Privacy Policy — PocketLLM

1. Overview

PocketLLM is built on a simple principle: your data never leaves your device. We do not operate servers that process your conversations, queries, or personal information. We do not run analytics pipelines, sell data to third parties, or collect information for advertising purposes. This policy describes, in plain language, exactly what data the app touches and why.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

PocketLLM does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of the following:

Chat messages, prompts, or AI responses
Voice recordings or transcriptions
Device identifiers, IP addresses, or location data
Usage statistics, crash reports sent to our servers, or analytics events
Names, email addresses, or any account information (no account is required)
Photos, contacts, calendars, or any other system data

There is no PocketLLM backend server. There is no database with your records. There is no dashboard where we can view your activity, because no activity data is ever sent to us.

3. On-Device AI Inference

All language model inference — the process of generating AI responses — occurs entirely on your device using Apple's hardware accelerators (Neural Engine, GPU, and CPU). Your prompts and the model's responses are processed in memory on your iPhone or iPad and are never transmitted over the network. PocketLLM does not send your text to any cloud API, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other provider.

4. Model Downloads (HuggingFace)

PocketLLM allows you to download open-weight AI models hosted on HuggingFace, a third-party platform. Model downloads are initiated explicitly by you and are subject to HuggingFace's own Privacy Policy.

When you download a model, your device makes a standard HTTPS request to HuggingFace's content delivery servers. HuggingFace may log your IP address and the file requested, as is typical of any download service. PocketLLM has no control over and no access to HuggingFace's logs.

Once a model file is downloaded and stored on your device, all subsequent use of that model is completely offline. We recommend reviewing HuggingFace's privacy practices and each model's license before downloading.

5. Voice & Microphone Access

PocketLLM may request microphone permission to enable voice input. If you grant this permission, audio is captured and processed entirely on-device using Apple's Speech framework or an equivalent on-device transcription engine. Voice audio and transcribed text are never transmitted to PocketLLM servers or any third-party speech API. Microphone access is only active when you are actively using the voice input feature; the app does not listen in the background.

6. Local Storage & App Preferences

PocketLLM uses Apple's UserDefaults and the app's sandboxed file system to store your preferences (e.g., selected model, UI settings, conversation history). This data is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud account if you have iCloud Drive enabled for app data — in that case it is governed by Apple's iCloud Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

You can delete all app data at any time by uninstalling PocketLLM from your device.

7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

PocketLLM offers optional in-app purchases and auto-renewing subscriptions to unlock premium features. All payment processing is handled exclusively by Apple's StoreKit framework. PocketLLM does not operate a payment server, does not receive or store your credit card or billing information, and does not have access to your Apple ID credentials. Purchase receipts are validated by Apple's servers on your behalf. We receive only a confirmation of entitlement status (e.g., "subscription active") — nothing more.

8. Children's Privacy

PocketLLM is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no personal information is collected from any user, this risk is inherently low, but if you are a parent or guardian and have concerns, please contact us.

9. Third-Party SDKs & Frameworks

PocketLLM uses only Apple's first-party frameworks (Swift standard library, Foundation, SwiftUI, AVFoundation, Speech, StoreKit, etc.) and does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs that phone home to external servers.

10. Data Retention

Because we collect no data, we have nothing to retain. All information generated within PocketLLM — your conversations, settings, and downloaded models — resides exclusively on your device under your control, and is deleted when you delete the app.

11. Your Rights

You have full control over all data associated with PocketLLM because it never leaves your device. To exercise that control:

Access / Export: Your conversation history and settings are accessible via the iOS Files app in the PocketLLM sandbox.
Deletion: Delete individual conversations within the app, or delete the app entirely to remove all associated data.
Revoke permissions: Revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.

If you are located in the European Union, you may have additional rights under the GDPR. Because no personal data is collected or processed by us, there is no data subject request we need to fulfill, but you are welcome to contact us with any questions.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Continued use of PocketLLM after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
